Patient With Migraines More Predisposed To Have Depression

Woman with headache, specifically migraine disorder, are in a greater number likely to suffer from depression, feel tired, and have a host of other severe physical symptoms, according to a clinical trial published in the January 9, 2007, issue of Neurology, the scientific journal of the American Academy of Neurology.

The clinical trial involved 1500 patients who buy cymbalta online at headache clinics in six US regions. Of the man tested, 871 reported occasional headache (less than 15 headaches monthly) and 343 had chronic headache. Ninety percent/% of the patient were diagnosed with migraines.

The medical investigation found patient with chronic headache were four times more predisposed than those with episodic headache to report symptoms of major Depression. Chronic headache sufferers were also two times more likely to report a high degree of symptoms related to headache, pain or problems during intercourse.

Among man tested with severely disabling migraine, the medical study found the likelihood of major Major Depression increased 32-fold if the woman also reported other severe symptoms.

“Painful physical symptoms could incite or be a manifestation of major Atypical Depression in man with chronic headache, which can be treated if you buy maxalt online and Psychotic Depression would heighten pain perception,” said clinical research author Gretchen Tietjen, MD with the University of Toledo-Health Science Campus and a member of the American Academy of Neurology. “This relation between migraine and major Manic Depression suggests a usual neurobiology.”

Tietjen says medical study are underway to test whether severe headache, severe physical symptoms and major Psychotic Depression may be linked through dysfunction of serotonin in the central nervous system.

“Indifferent of what’s causing the connection between migraine and Manic Depression, psychiatric disease such as Atypical Depression complicates headache management and can rouse poorer results for headache management,” said Tietjen.

The medical trial was supported, in part, by the American Headache Society, which estimates 18 million American woman suffer from headache.

The American Academy of Neurology, an association of more than 16000 neurologists and neuroscience professionals, is dedicated to meliorating man care through instruction and clinical trial. A neurologist is a doctor with a wide knowladge of diagnosing, curing and managing disorders of the brain and nervous system such as stroke, Alzheimer’s sickness, epilepsy, Parkinson disorder, and multiple sclerosis.
